Caitlin Clark set a new WNBA record for most assists in a game with 19, surpassing the previous record of 18 held by Courtney Vandersloot. Clark also set the record for points contributed (scored or assisted) with 66, beating Diana Taurasi’s 18-year record by one point.
Bob Iger, Disney CEO, and his wife Willow Bay purchased a majority stake in the NWSL team Angel City, making them the most valuable women’s sports franchise at a $250 million valuation. Bay will have full control of Angel City's board and represent the team at board of governors meetings. In addition to the purchase, the couple plans to spend an additional $50 million on the franchise. Angel City currently sits 11th in the standings and has former U.S. National team players Sydney Leroux and Christen Press.

Team USA featured their third different starting lineup in three games, with Curry, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, and Joel Embiid. The only players to start all three games are Curry, James, and Embiid. While Kevin Durant has not played due to a calf injury, there is optimism he will be available for the Olympics. Team USA is now off to London to play South Sudan and Germany.
The Wings triumphed in front of a sold-out home crowd. Caitlin Clark added 24 points, a WNBA record 19 assists, and 6 rebounds, while the Wings’ Arike Ogunbowale scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. This was the first matchup between the Wings and Fever this season, with two more meetings in September.
Orlando controlled the match from start to finish, allowing Nashville only one shot on goal. With this win, Orlando has triumphed in four of their last five games, steadily climbing the Eastern Conference standings. Nashville, on the other hand, has lost its fifth straight game, and new manager BJ Callaghan certainly has his work cut out for him when he joins the club next week.
