The Lead 📬
The men’s singles final features two familiar faces: Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will meet in a rematch of the 2023 Wimbledon final. This is a highly anticipated matchup, as Alcaraz is the reigning champion while Djokovic has won Wimbledon on seven occasions. On the women’s side, Barbora Krejcikova and Jasmine Paolini will be playing in their first singles Wimbledon final. This will be the seventh consecutive year a new women’s champion will be crowned. The women’s final will take place on July 13th, and the men play on July 14th, both matches start at 9:00 AM ET.
The ascension of Paul Skenes continues as he was named the starting pitcher for the National League in next week's All-Star game after just 11 starts. The first overall pick in last year’s draft leads the MLB in strikeouts since his debut in May. He will become just the fifth rookie starting pitcher in ASG history, which began in 1933.
Uruguay’s manager had some strong words for the governing bodies over the tournament. After the semifinal match, Uruguayan family members were attacked by Colombian fans after the final whistle. Subsequently, Uruguayan team members jumped into the stands to protect their family members. Multiple governing bodies launched investigations and are looking further into the incident.

With a 4-1 win tonight, the Yankees are just one game back from the Orioles in the AL East. Yankees ace Gerrit Cole pitched six innings, allowing one run and striking out seven, while Aaron Judge hit an MLB-best 33rd home run of the season. Benches cleared after O’s center fielder Heston Kjerstad was hit in the head with a pitch. The series continues today at 4:05 PM ET.
Indiana defeated the Mercury 95-86 on Friday night for another home win. The Fever has made Indy a tough place for opponents, losing only one of their last eight home games. Caitlin Clark had 20 points and 10 assists, while Kelsey Mitchell added 28 points in the win.
Jose Altuve's three-run home run proved to be the difference, with the Astros winning 6-3. With the homer tonight, Altuve is tied for fourth all-time in franchise history. Houston has won their last 10 games at home, helping them secure their 50th win of the season. The action continues today at 4:10 PM ET.

In their final series before the All-Star break, the Braves travel to San Diego. Both teams are in second place in their respective divisions, looking to close out the first half of the season with a series win. Atlanta and San Diego have a combined eight players in the Midsummer Classic.
Playing just two days prior in New York, the Liberty will look to notch back-to-back wins over the Sky. With a win tonight, New York would be the first team to 20 wins this season. Chicago’s Angel Reese will be vying to extend the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles to sixteen games.
In the third-place game in Copa America, Uruguay will face Canada. After suffering losses to Colombia and Argentina, respectively, these teams are fighting for a bronze medal and to avoid back-to-back losses.
